Biomass is the organic part that comes from animal, vegetal and micro organism wastes, that can be
converted in usable energy or products for other purposes.
Considering biomass as an energy source, the one produced by photosynthetic organisms capable of
transforming solar in chemical energy is very interesting.
The most used resources for biomass production in Europe are agricultural wastes. In overseas islands,
the "bagasse" waste of the sugar cane is often used.
